Natalie Victoria hits LA premiere, My Sucky Teen Romance! Publicity - August 23, 2012

Natalie Victoria

Natalie Victoria (zombie/comedy DEADHEADS) joined writer/director Emily Hagins, the cast of My Sucky Teen Romance, and a whole slew of other talented film people at the Los Angeles Premiere of My Sucky Teen Romance in Hollywood last evening. Ain’t It Cool News and Dark Sky Films sponsored the event at Cinespace–a cozy, cool, chic bar/movie theatre. The film was funny, charming, entertaining –and had a great cameo by #1 Nerd God / Film Critic of all things cool Mr. Harry Knowles, himself. Yea for Austin, TX peeps!

Logline: In a culture that is currently overrun with romanticized vampires, it is up to four geeky teenagers to defend their friend and beloved sci-fi convention from a group of very real, and very blood-thirsty vampires.

Synopsis: On 17-year-old Kate’s last weekend in town, she and her friends plan to spend it together at SpaceCON– the local science fiction convention they attend every year. At the convention Kate meets Paul, a recently turned teen-vampire (who is also dressed as one). But when Kate tries to make a move on him, he accidentally bites her in the neck. Kate and her friends soon discover Paul is not the only vampire at the convention, and it is up to them to stop the vampires and find a way to turn Kate back before it is too late.

Writer/Director thoughts:

I want the characters to be real geeks– they know about Twilight and the teen vampire phenomenon. But these vampires are the real deal, and more than everyday teenagers can take on. The comedy comes from the awkwardness of regular kids dealing with monsters who have been over-romanticized in recent pop culture. This is a teen comedy written, directed, and acted by teenagers. It is a unique opportunity to capture the genuine teen experience,” says Emily Hagins.

Be sure to check out Emily’s official website for her upcoming projects. Can you believe she is only 19 and has 3 films under her belt!?!? Expect GREAT things from this Austin, TX jewel.
